An arrest has been made following the allegations of sexual assault made in the Students’ Union gender neutral toilets on 21 October at the union’s military themed night.
Surrey Police, currently investigating the incident, arrested a 25-year-old man from Englefield Green on the 22 October on the suspicion of sexually assaulting the 19 year old female in question. Surrey Police have stated that their ‘officers are carrying out a thorough and extensive investigation into the alleged incident, including speaking to witnesses and conducting forensic examinations of both scenes’, namely a residential address in Victoria Street, Englefield Green as well as the area within the Student’s Union. The arrested male has now been released on police bail until the 23 January 2012 while the case is being examined.
Royal Holloway have claimed their support of the investigation by Surrey Police and stated that they are continually ‘committed to ensuring the safety of all students and staff.’
