It is the start of a new academic year and Royal Holloway has witnessed some welcome changes to its Students’ Union, including a brand-new logo.
Various modifications have been made to the Students’ Union since the start of the summer, such as its newly acquired status as a registered charity and the refurbishments made to the SU building itself. In addition, the Student’s Union logo underwent some renovations of its own; the vivid and playful logo a refreshing redesign of the comparatively drab and formal predecessor.
The final design was chosen via a survey carried out during the last summer term on the SU website. Speaking to The Orbital, the SU said “we are extremely excited to announce our new logo”, and regarding the complications that arose with the results of the survey said, “after months of deliberation and voting from students, it was decided that we would remain ‘SURHUL’. Three-quarters of students wanted us to move away from the old logo and, after taking logos for RHSU out of contention, the winner of the poll was ‘SURHUL’ with our dotted ‘U’.”
