What better way to wrap up the summer and get in the mood for Freshers’ week than Woolfstock 2011? Now in its second year, the “small festival with a big sound” is located on a gorgeous rural site in Watership Down – just outside Newbury, Hampshire – and kicks off at noon on Saturday 3 September.
It contains all the essential ingredients needed to enjoy a top musical gathering and the great British outdoors. With a maximum of just 2,000 guests, the intimate and safe festival environment means you can get close to the eclectic and exciting line-up of emerging acts. Headlining is critically acclaimed indie rockers British Sea Power, while it may well be the penultimate gig for the much-hyped Pegasus Bridge.
The impressive stage might come straight from Reading Festival, but Woolfstock is the perfect antidote to a glut of large, impersonal corporate sponsored festivals. There are no overpriced, frozen burgers in sight. Instead, stools serve delicious treats from paella to pancakes, courtesy of award-winning organic food and beverage suppliers like Laverstoke Farm.
There is even free camping, onsite parking and posh toilets! Tickets are priced at just £50, with special rates for students and families. For the full line-up, event information and tickets please visit www.woolfstockfestivals.com.
